Business professor weighs in on election in Oregonian

October 30, 2010 by Linfield News Team

By Linfield News Team

A controversial ballot initiative comes down to a battle over who gets Oregon casino dollars, Professor Malcolm Greenlees told The Oregonian in a front-page story.

Greenlees, a business professor who specializes in the economics and financing of casinos, says the proposed Wood Village casino could take away between 65 and 75 percent of the profits of a local tribal casino, Spirit Mountain.

Money drawn to the Wood Village casino would come at the cost of other communities that have benefited from Spirit Mountain, he says. “Gains for Portland would come with adverse impacts elsewhere.”

The Oregonian story has been picked up by numerous news feeds and news sites.
