Linfield College said goodbye to 661 graduating seniors at its Commencement Ceremony, held in the beautiful campus Oak Grove. VIEW PHOTOS.
The Class of 2013 is one of the most diverse graduating classes in the school’s history. The Linfield community has been enriched by an especially large group of Latino and Asian/Pacific Island students, and almost a quarter of its students are Americans of color. Graduating seniors came from a wide variety of backgrounds, varying in age, origin, sexual orientation and economic class.
This year’s graduates also included students from 10 countries, including China, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Nigeria, the Philippines, Scotland, the United Kingdom and Vietnam.
More than 30 Golden Grads, individuals who graduated from Linfield 50 or more years ago, were welcomed back to campus, and some accompanied grandchildren at commencement.
Theresa Betancourt ’91, a Linfield graduate and internationally known advocate for child health and human rights, delivered the commencement address. Charles Walker, who served as president of Linfield from 1975 to 1992, offered the baccalaureate address.
