Top problems facing humanity – among them, energy, water, food, environment and poverty – are exacerbated by climate change, according to a recent opinion piece by Jim Diamond, Linfield College professor of chemistry, in the Oregonian.
Read “Climate change is the world’s most pressing problem.”
Diamond leads a course aimed at students majoring in areas outside the sciences, teaching them about stratospheric ozone depletion and global warming. His research includes molecular modeling, ab initio calculations of electronic structure problems, and fundamental aspects of quantum mechanics. He has been a professor at Linfield since 1991.
