Catch All Classical FM interviews with celebrated composer Libby Larsen

April 5, 2011 by Linfield News Team

By Linfield News Team

Larsen, in residency for a week in mid-April, will present a world premiere on campus. Catch a preview of her work and thoughts on Portland’s All Classical FM Radio on April 7 and 9.

Larsen will be featured on Club Mod April 9 at 8 p.m. and on Northwest Previews April 7 at 6 p.m. Both programs can be found on the dial at 89.9 FM in Portland and the vicinity, or online at All Classical FM. The interviews will be hosted by Senior Announcer Robert McBride.

Larsen’s week-long residency will culminate in a world premiere of “Moabit Sonnets” at concerts on April 15 and 16. She was a composer-in-residence at Linfield in 1990, and is now one of the world’s most performed living composers with more than 400 works spanning virtually every genre. The concerts are sponsored by the Linfield Chamber Orchestra.

McBride produces and host Club Mod, a weekly show about modern music that airs Saturday nights from 8 to 10 p.m. The show concentrates on modernism in music, exploring the ways composers of the past pushed the envelope and presenting works of current composers. McBride is a composer as well.

Portland’s All Classical FM provides classical music to listeners in Oregon, Washington and the world via the internet.

Concert Information

Concert tickets for Linfield faculty and staff for the April 16 concert are $10 (balcony seats are $5) if purchased by April 15. Linfield students are admitted free at the door, although tickets may sell out for the April 15 concert; advance student tickets are $5.
