McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield University President Miles K. Davis announced on Friday that Doug Hire has agreed to remain as interim athletic director through the 2023-24 academic year. Hire has been serving as Acting Athletic Director since August.
The university will conduct a national search to find its next full-time athletic director, with a goal of having someone in place by next summer.
Hire will replace Garry Killgore, who has been on leave as director of athletics since August. Upon Killgore’s return, he will be reassigned to an administrative role as program developer for Online and Continuing Education. Killgore, a longtime former faculty member who holds a Ph.D. in exercise science and biomechanics, will report to Linfield Vice President for Academic Affairs Beth Concepción and be responsible for building new online programs as well as in-person continuing education opportunities.
