The Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing announced the appointment of Heidi Johnston to associate dean, effective immediately. She joins Dean Paul Smith and Associate Dean Julie Fitzwater in the leadership of the nursing school.
Johnston is currently an associate professor of nursing. Since arriving at Linfield in 2021, she has served as the program director for the accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (ABSN) and the Master’s Entry in Professional Nursing (MEPN) programs. She is also involved on a variety of school-wide and university-wide committees. This has included the School of Nursing Evaluation Committee and Faculty Senate.
“Dr. Johnston brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role. She was integral to the development of the ABSN and MEPN programs,” Smith said. “We look forward to her continued leadership and contributions to advancing our mission of excellence in nursing education.”
Before joining the Linfield School of Nursing faculty, Johnston worked at Touro University and Great Basin College in Nevada. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Northern Nevada Community College; Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix; and doctorate in nursing practice from Boise State University.
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the associate dean,” Johnston said. “I’m drawn to this role because it aligns with my passion for nursing, my desire to make a difference and my commitment to the growth and success of the Linfield community. I am dedicated to guiding and empowering students, collaborating with faculty to enhance educational programs, and supporting the staff in their vital roles. My goal is to positively impact the Linfield community and contribute to its ongoing success.”
