After a “(Stay at) Homecoming” in 2020, Linfield University welcomes its alumni back to campus for Homecoming 2021. Events for students and alumni run from Oct. 1-9 on the McMinnville and Portland campuses. Face coverings are required for all Linfield events.
Alumni of the Linfield University-Good Samaritan School of Nursing have a chance to tour the new Portland campus (located at 2900 NE 132nd Avenue, Portland) at an open house from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1.
The university is offering a series of virtual events at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4 through Thursday, Oct. 7, featuring Linfield alumni. Events include:
- Monday: Trivia night hosted by Debbie Harmon Ferry ’90
- Tuesday: Distinguished Young Alumni Award recipient Ann Klein ’07 gives a presentation titled, “Liberal Arts and Early Excellence”
- Wednesday: Distinguished Award recipient Sean Hoar ’80 presents “The Dark Web and Emerging Threats”
- Thursday: Distinguished Nursing Award recipient Ashley Blatchley ’06 gives a presentation titled, “Leading Nursing Teams During the Pandemic”
Thursday also sees the return of the annual homecoming Drag Show, organized by the Wildcat Entertainment Board. The event, featuring a performance by Poison Waters, starts at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall.
Homecoming activities continue for students on Friday, Oct. 8 with spirit decorating a food trucks from 5-6 p.m. on the Intramural Field. Students can tie dye masks, shirts and towels for the big game and enjoy snacks from Crave Mini Doughnuts or Mocktails.
For alumni, Friday brings additional opportunities to come together, starting with a wine tasting from 1-4 p.m. at Alexana Winery in Newberg. Tickets are $25 for all guests over the age of 21. Linfield celebrates its 2021 alumni award recipients during Linfield’s Finest from 5:30-7 p.m. at Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum. The night ends with a free choir concert and reception, starting at 7:30 p.m. in Ice Auditorium. The concert features the premiere of original music by composers and Linfield alumni Alex Zhang ’14 and Zach Gulaboff Davis ’14.
On Saturday, Oct. 9, alumni are encouraged to drop by a tent located on Streak Street (two-block section of Lever Street) between 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. for free coffee, tea and Wildcat swag, hosted by Linfield’s Office of Constituent Engagement. Main events of the day include the home football game against Whitworth at 1:30 p.m. and the men’s soccer match versus Willamette at 2:30 p.m. Tickets to the football game can be purchased at www.golinfieldwildcats.com.
