Celebrating “Purple Reign” at Linfield’s Homecoming Sept. 15-18

Cheerleaders perform chant with arms raised with mascot in backgroundLinfield University hosts a series of alumni and student events during Homecoming Weekend, Sept. 15-18, on its McMinnville campus.

The weekend will feature a range of activities, including the Wildcat Entertainment Board’s annual Drag Show, “Linfield’s Finest” honoring this year’s alumni award recipients and multiple home Wildcat Athletic events. Students have dubbed this year’s Homecoming theme as “Purple Reign.”

This year’s homecoming football game pits Head Coach Joe Smith ’93 against former Wildcat Jim Good ’94, head coach for Redlands. The teams last faced each other in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Division III playoffs, where Linfield won 44-10.

Below is a list of events open to the Linfield community and the public.

Thursday, Sept. 15:

  • Drag Show: 8-10 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium, Melrose Hall

Friday, Sept. 16:

  • Alumni Baseball Game: 1 p.m. at Roy Helser Baseball Field
  • Presentation by 2022 Outstanding Young Alumnus, Zach Brandon ’14: 3 p.m  in T.J. Day Hall, room 219
  • Presentation by 2022 Distinguished Alumni of the Year, Jeff Crapper ’00: 4 p.m. in T.J. Day Hall, room 222
  • Linfield’s Finest: 5:30 p.m. at Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum. Event honors 2022 alumni award recipients Jeffrey Crapper ’00, Kathryn (Anderson) Schach ’72, Zach Brandon ’14, Garlinn (Hansen) Story ’69 and Ronni Lacroute.
  • Volleyball vs. Willamette: 7 p.m. at Ted Wilson Gym

Saturday, Sept. 17:

  • Alumni Swim Meet: 10 a.m. in the Linfield Aquatic Center
  • All-Alumni Tent: 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the tent on Streak Street
  • Football vs. University of Redlands: 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Cost: $25 for reserved seating, $15 for general admission
  • Men’s Soccer vs. Pacific Lutheran: 2:30 p.m. at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex
  • Volleyball vs. Lewis & Clark: 6 p.m. at Ted Wilson Gym

Sunday, Sept. 18:

  • Men’s Soccer vs. University of Puget Sound: 2:30 p.m. at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex
