Michael Huntsberger, associate professor of mass communication, will present “Waiting for Peace: Creating a Documentary for Interactive Multimedia” on Wednesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. in the Fred Meyer Lounge in Riley Hall at Linfield College.
Richard Berkey was a third-year pre-med student at Indiana University in the fall of 1942 when he was drafted into the United States Army. Berkey’s wartime journal, letters and a wide variety of historical documents provide the core of the book “Waiting for Peace: The Journals and Correspondence of a World War II Combat Medic.”
With the support of Student-Faculty Collaborative Research grants from Linfield, a team of students and faculty adapted Berkey’s compelling story of war and personal transformation for online presentation through interactive multimedia. This presentation explores the scholarly and creative processes that go into the development and presentation of a documentary in this emerging form.
A Linfield professor since 2009, Huntsberger holds a bachelor’s degree from The Evergreen State College and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon.
The lecture is free and open to the public. The Linfield College faculty lecture series offers one presentation each month. For more information, call 503-883-2409.
