Whether on campus, online or abroad, Linfield College students are exploring innovative programming during their January Term courses.
January Term is a four-week period of concentrated study in which students enroll in only one course. Many students are exploring other cultures around the world, while others are taking classes on campus or online. In addition, this year all first-year students are taking a January Term course as a prerequisite for graduation.
Linfield has created innovative programming for students on campus that is both academic and recreational. Events include a paint party, stage makeup workshops, cooking classes, costume crafting, sustainability workshops, service opportunities, comedians, guest lecturers and more. First-year students received a WildPass passport, to be stamped at events. Receiving the stamps make students eligible for prizes including unlimited free textbooks for a year and other prizes.
In addition to January Term off-campus courses, students can also participate in semester and year abroad opportunities. Nearly half of all Linfield students study abroad before they graduate. Linfield pays the first round-trip airfare from the Portland International Airport to destination.
Eleven off-campus January Term courses are taking place right now in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, The Philippines, Hawaii, Peru, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, Italy, Russia, Switzerland and Norway.
