The Linfield Collaborative Music Ensemble (LCME) will perform their first concert, featuring the world premieres of three compositions, at a free concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30.
LCME was founded by assistant professor Florian Conzetti in 2023. The ensemble commissions, records and performs music made by Linfield students, alumni and professors and made possible via a faculty development grant; the performance is part of the Lacroute Composer Readings and Chamber Music Mentorship Program.
This is the first public performance for the group, who had a recording session in June. Three works from Linfield community members will have their world premieres:
- “Twirl” for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and percussion (2023), composed by Zach Gulaboff Davis ‘23
- “Dance of the Bat-Eared Fox” for flute, clarinet, violin, cello and marimba (2023) by current Linfield student Élana Gatien
- “Red Flame” for flute and marimba (2021) by former professor Andrea Reinkemeyer
The program also includes “Emerging” for solo piano and “Synchronicities” for violin and marimba by incoming Department of Music chair William Campbell, “In C Dorian” for any ensemble (2020) by Frank Ticheli and “My Twentieth Century” for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano and marimba (2006) by Martin Bresnick.
Performers include:
- Clarinetist and Linfield instructor Isaac Beu
- Pianist and Department of Music chair William Campbell;
- Percussionist Florian Conzetti, assistant professor and LCME artistic director;
- Flutist and Linfield instructor Alexis Evers
