The Linfield Theatre Program in collaboration with the Department of Music presents “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.” There will be eight shows starting with the opening night at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25. All shows are in Marshall Theatre within Kenneth W. Ford Hall.

The musical is based on Rick Riordan’s bestselling novel of the same name. The story follows Percy Jackson’s odyssey from troublemaker to hero. During the process, he confronts Greek gods and monsters, a traitor, an absentee father and self–doubt. Quirky friends, a magical pen that becomes a sword and his undying love for his mom guides our hero on his journey.
Lindsey Mantoan, associate professor of theatre, directs “The Lightning Thief,” with Matthew Fletcher as musical director and Eve Brindis as choreographer. Linfield faculty members lead the scenic design (Derek Lane); costume, hair and makeup design (Laurel Peterson) and lighting and sound design (Jesse Klug). Guest artist Tony Churchill provides projection design. Sophomore Skylar McLeod is serving as the production’s stage manager. The book is by Joe Tracz and music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki.
The cast includes a lineup of Linfield students: TJ Lake (Percy Jackson), Eleanor Black, Alyssa Catalani, Hannah Day, Zoe Hertlein, Julia Hutchison, Lucy Ingham, Hannah Jones, MJ Lorino, Tony Pascalar, Cristina Purkey, Cameron Ramirez, Bella Rigutto, David Stephens and DeAndre Williams.
Tickets to “The Lightning Thief” go on sale at noon on April 9 at www.linfield.edu/arts. The box office opens for in-person sales at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 22.
Pricing information (all seats reserved):
- $15 for full-price tickets.
- $13 for seniors (62+) and Linfield employees (two tickets per ID).
- $10 for students 8+ (any school, one ticket per ID).

Special events
In addition to the scheduled performances, Linfield Theatre is hosting a series of special events surrounding the show. This includes:
- Opening Night fundraiser for Henderson House on Thursday, April 24: Proceeds from ticket sales on opening night will be donated to Henderson House, Yamhill County’s domestic violence shelter. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the Linfield Theatre Program is once again proud to support the mission of Henderson House to provide culturally aware outreach, education and services for victims of domestic and sexual violence through leadership, hope and respect for thriving families.
- Opening Night Reception: Linfield Theatre hosts a post-performance reception on April 24 for wine and light refreshments to celebrate the cast, crew and creative team.
- Bring on the Monsters: Empathy, Defeating Demons, and Growing Up: Following the April 27 matinee performance, Linfield Theatre hosts a discussion about empathy, the challenges facing young adults today and the pleasures of adapting a blockbuster novel into a musical. Panelists include David Sumner, professor of English; Jennifer Williams, associate professor of religion; and Lindsey Mantoan, director and associate professor of theatre.

Attendees should also be aware:
- This production uses fog, haze and flashing lights. Attendees should plan accordingly.
- The show is recommended for ages 8 and older.
- Children under the age of seven (including babes in arms) will not be admitted to any performance.
- The performance is approximately 2 hours with one intermission.
