Linfield has planned several events throughout February to celebrate Black Brilliance during Black History Month.
Linfield will hold a book discussion, concert and film screening among other events. Information follows:
- “THE FIRE IS UPON US” DISCUSSION: Political science professor Nick Buccola will discuss his book, “The Fire Is Upon Us: James Baldwin, William F. Buckley Jr., and the Debate Over Race in America” with President Miles K. Davis on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the Fred Meyer Lounge located in Riley Hall at Linfield.
- WINEMAKER CONVERSATION & CONCERT: Local winemakers Bertony Faustin, Jarod Sleet and Linfield’s entrepreneur-in-residence Marcus Johnson of FLO wine brands will host a soiree on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m. in Jonasson at Linfield. The soiree will be followed by a conversation with music interlude with Marcus Johnson in the Ice Auditorium, Melrose Hall at Linfield.
- FILM SCREENING AND DISCUSSION: Entrepreneur and movie producer BK Fulton will show his film, “1 Angry Black Man,” on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the Ice Auditorium, Melrose Hall at Linfield.
The wine conversation and concert is free for Linfield students, faculty, staff and their plus one. For others, general admission is $10. The other events are free and open to the public. Information on all other February events can be found here: https://www.linfield.edu/calendar.html.
