November 16, 2015 by Linfield News Team

By Linfield News Team

Dali QuartetLinfield College will host the Dali Quartet in concert on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall.

The concert will feature performances of traditional string quartet and Latin American repertoire. The program features selections by Johannes Brahms, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Latin music for string quartet including a bolero, “La historia de un amor” by Carlos Almarán, and a tango, “El dia que me quieras” by Carlos Gardel.

In the spirit of Spanish artist Salvador Dali, the Dali Quartet embraces imagination and excellence as central to its art form. Trained by world-renowned artists, members of the Dali Quartet are products of Venzeula’s social and music education movement El Sistema and have studied at institutions such as the Cleveland Institute of Music, Indiana University Bloomington, Conservatoire de Musique de Genéve, Switzerland and the Simón Bolivar Conservatory in Caracas, Venezuela. Members include Alex Fortes, first violin; Carlos Rubio, second violin; Adriana Linares, viola; and Jesús Morales, cello.

This concert is sponsored by the Linfield Lively Arts Series in collaboration with Friends of Chamber Music. The Linfield Lively Arts Series features guest artists in concerts and outreach programs, including master classes, open rehearsals, and “Meet the Musician” events with students and local audiences.

Tickets are $10 available at the door and free for Linfield students with current ID and K-12 students. For more information, call 503-883-2275 or visit www.linfield.edu/arts
