By Linfield News Team

Ian Cox '15Linfield College senior Ian Cox will present “A Tribute to My Teachers,” an elective piano recital, Friday, May 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield.

The recital will include Cox’s favorite repertoire, primarily derived from composers of the Romantic Era. He will perform works by Jean Sibelius, G.F. Handel, Franz Liszt, Claude Debussy, Felix Mendelssohn, Francis Poulenc, L.V. Beethoven and others. The performance will demonstrate the progression of music throughout his life and the significant role it has played in his education.

Cox is a music major and has studied the piano for the past 17 years under the instruction of the late David Ingram, Karen Huntsberger, and Linfield professors Jill Timmons, Chris Engbretson and Albert Kim. He has performed in Vienna, Austria; for the O.S.S.A. convention in Portland; and has provided music for several events at Linfield. After graduating from Linfield, Cox will pursue his master’s degree in the department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at Portland State University where he intends to incorporate aspects of his musical education into therapeutic practice.

This recital is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Linfield College Department of Music. For more information, call 503-883-2275 or visit linfield.edu/arts.
