Linfield to present Norwegian trumpet concert

Linfield College Music DepartmentLinfield College will welcome visiting musicians from Norway. Guest musicians Ingrid Eliassen and Ekaterina Isayevskaya will present “The Arctic Trumpet,” a concert with Norwegian repertoire for trumpet and piano on Thursday, March 15, at 7 p.m. in the Delkin Recital Hall in the Vivian A. Bull Music Center at Linfield.

Eliassen and Isayevskaya have been exploring Norwegian repertoire for trumpet and piano and have put together a varied program that combines familiar and less well-known works, including a première of Alexander Aarøen Pedersen’s “The Ancient Bells of La Dierde,” which was especially commissioned for this concert tour to the USA.

In January 2018, Joan Haaland Paddock, Linfield professor of music, presented a lecture at the University of Tromsø Conservatory of Music and also collaborated in concerts with artists Ingrid Eliassen and Ekaterina Isayevskaya at the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø, Norway.

Both Eliassen and Isayevskaya teach at the University of Tromsø. Eliassen is an assistant professor of trumpet and Isayevskaya is a lecturer in piano accompaniment at the University of Tromsø, where she works with both students and faculty on all aspects of performance from sight-reading to concert. Eliassen is also a regular solo, chamber and orchestral performer and has performed with groups such as the Norwegian Air Force concert band and the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra. Isayevskaya also has a vast musical background and regularly performs as a chamber musician and accompanist at Nordlysfestivalen, Tromsø Opera Festival and Festspillene i Nord Norge, as well frequent collaborations with Tromsø Operaforeninga.

This concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 503-883-2275 or visit www.linfield.edu/arts
