Linfield remains in contention for fifth national crown

Linfield College footballLinfield returns to the national semifinals for the first time since 2009 to face defending champion UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Dec. 13, at 12:30 p.m. PST.

Sam Riddle ’17 threw five touchdown passes and Alex Hoff ’16 had a hand in five sacks as Linfield (11-1) dominated previously unbeaten Widener (Pa.) 45-7 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III playoffs Dec. 6 in Pennsylvania. Read the full release.

WATCH THE VIDEOCAST ON ESPN3
ESPN3, a web-based video portal, is providing free video coverage of both semifinals games. Wayne Randazzo will call the play-by-play action with Forrest Connoly providing analysis.  To watch, select the “Watch Live” link, then locate the game listing under “Football” and then select Linfield vs. Wisconsin-Whitewater (Semifinal #2). The Linfield-UWW game is scheduled to be rebroadcast on ESPNU, a cable TV channel, on Friday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. PST. Consult your local cable service to see if ESPNU is included with your specific carrier’s package.

Saturday’s winner advances to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl in Salem, Va., to play the winner of the other semifinal match up between Mount Union (Ohio) and Wesley (Del.) on Friday, Dec. 19, at 4 p.m. PST. That game is scheduled to air on ESPNU.
