Anis Mojgani to share works of poetry at ‘Readings at the Nick’
Anis Mojgani, an award-winning poet, will read from his work on Thursday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Austin Reading Room at Nicholson Library at Linfield College.
Mojgani is a spoken-word poet, visual artist and musician based in Portland. He is a two-time National Poetry Slam Champion, multiple-time TEDx speaker, and winner of the International World Cup Poetry Slam.
“Pakistan: The Land of the Pure”
Madhurita Valleja, Linfield’s Pakistani exchange student, will share information about her home country on Wednesday, April 11, at 4 p.m. in 201 Riley Hall.
The Fauré Quartet to perform at Linfield
The Fauré Quartet, one of the world’s leading piano quartets, will perform Wednesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield College.
Linfield faculty will present new books at reading
A panel of Linfield College faculty will gather to read from their newly published works on Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the Austin Reading Room of the Jereld R. Nicholson Library at the college.
Linfield Theatre to present ‘Silent Sky’
A woman’s journey finding her way in the male-dominated field of astronomy is the focus of an upcoming theatre production at Linfield College. “Silent Sky” by Lauren Gunderson sheds light on the forgotten women scientists in history.
The production features the full-length play by Gunderson. Daniel Pollack-Pelzner, the Ronni Lacroute Chair in Shakespeare Studies at Linfield College, said she “has built a national reputation with works that center on women’s stories” in an article in “The New Yorker.” This year, Linfield Theatre’s 98th season, is spotlighting Gunderson’s plays.
“Silent Sky” runs April 12-14 and 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Marshall Theatre in Ford Hall at Linfield, with a matinee on Sunday, April 15, at 2 p.m. A short question and answer session with the designers and director will be held on April 12, after the opening-night performance.
Linfield Concert Choir hosts eighth annual choir clinic
The Linfield College Concert Choir will host the eighth annual Choir Clinic for Yamhill County elementary and middle school students, grades 3-8, Friday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Vivian A. Bull Music Center at Linfield.
A public concert for students to showcase what they have learned will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the Delkin Recital Hall at the Vivian A. Bull Music Center.
