The Pacific Northwest Association of Journalism Educators recognized Linfield University‘s independent student newspaper, The Linfield Review, for the excellence of its work. Competing against four-year institutions across the Pacific Northwest, the paper won three awards. This included taking the top spot in the Comprehensive Coverage category.
“I am so proud of this year’s staff for all of their hard work and dedication to producing the best stories possible for our Linfield community,” said Amelia Solt ’26, the 2025-26 editor-in-chief. “Regardless whether a staff member won an award or not, they should be incredibly proud of all the stories, photos, and multimedia pieces they created.”
The ‘Four-Year Program Division’ in the annual awards includes newspapers from schools regardless of enrollment. This year, The Linfield Review competed against entries from student newspapers at the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, the University of Portland and Willamette University. The Linfield Review was recognized with the following awards:
- First Place – Comprehensive Coverage: Budget Cuts by Kenny McMillen
- Second Place – Personality Profile: “A small, but mighty encounter has been the captain of Linfield’s Shannon Dunn’s ship” by Amelia Solt
- Third Place – Personality Profile: “Caroline Smith: The bio superstar” by Julian Ortiz
Solt added, “I am looking forward to seeing how next year’s editor-in-chief, Kenny McMillen, builds on the growth that our paper has made!”
