Linfield to match students’ college savings

Linfield College announced it is partnering with the state of Oregon to offer students matching scholarship funding for college savings accounts through the Oregon Scholars program.

Starting immediately, Linfield will match up to $1,000 a year for incoming students with as much in their Oregon College Savings Plan.

“Linfield is committed to making our high-quality, intimate educational experience accessible to more students,” said Linfield President Miles K. The new Oregon Scholars program allows the Oregon College Savings Plan to partner with state colleges and universities to offer incentives to Oregonians saving for education. Linfield College is the second school to take part in the Oregon Scholars program.

“The Oregon Scholars program is gaining momentum and is poised to help even more students meet their goals,” said Oregon State Treasurer Tobias Read. “We’re pleased to welcome Linfield College to our lineup of participating institutions. Together, we are making it easier for everyone to save for education and training after high school.”

Ninety-six percent of Linfield students receive financial assistance of some kind, whether it’s scholarships, grants, loans or campus jobs, or any combination of those.
