Linfield VP McKeegan named new president at Mount Aloysius College

April 2, 2020 by Jill King

By Jill King

John McKeeganJohn McKeegan, Linfield vice president for institutional advancement and the college’s general counsel, has been named president at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, Pennsylvania.

McKeegan, who was born and raised in Pennsylvania, joined Linfield in 2010 as advisor to the president and general counsel. He was appointed vice president three years later.

His presidency at Mount Aloysius begins June 1, 2020.

“It has been my great honor and privilege to serve Linfield,” McKeegan said. “Linfield has been, and will continue to be, a special place. It has changed countless lives, including my own. These are without question challenging times for our world, but I believe Linfield is in a strong position to continue being a beacon of light and ray of hope long into the future.”

At Linfield, McKeegan’s responsibilities – including but not limited to coordinating fundraising activities, handling communications to internal and external constituencies, and leading alumni, parent and community engagement – were abundant.

He will be missed, says Linfield president Miles K. Davis.

“We are excited for John McKeegan as he embarks on his new journey as Mount Aloysius College’s president,” Davis said. “John has had an amazing career at Linfield and has made invaluable contributions to the institution as both general counsel and vice president of institutional advancement. John was a key contributor in securing the two largest donations in Linfield’s history. We hate to see John go, and his voice and presence will be missed.

“However, there is no greater need in higher education than effective leadership, and there is no doubt in my mind that John will help lead Mount Aloysius College into a great future.”

Linfield is a four-year independent college with campuses in McMinnville and Portland. Twenty-eight percent of Linfield students are first-generation college students, and more than one-third are U.S. students of color. The U.S. State Department has honored Linfield for being a top producer of Fulbright Scholars three years in a row.
