Linfield College said goodbye to more than 700 graduating seniors at this year’s Commencement Ceremony, held Sunday, June 1, in the Oak Grove on campus. This year’s graduates also included students from 15 countries, including Brazil, China, Cuba, England, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia, Turkey and Vietnam.
Golden Grads, individuals who graduated from Linfield 50 or more years ago, were welcomed back to campus, and some accompanied grandchildren at commencement.
Dr. Stephen Lopes, a 1984 graduate of Linfield College and the chief operating officer and chief financial officer of the University of Southern California Athletics Department, delivered the commencement address to the Linfield class of 2014. Dave Hunt, past president of American Baptist Churches USA and former speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives, presented the baccalaureate address.
