McMinnville campus announces increased building security

August 22, 2022 by Kathy Foss

By Kathy Foss

To keep the on-campus living and learning environments as safe as possible, Linfield Public Safety has announced an increased building security measure for the McMinnville campus, beginning Aug. 29. While buildings that are frequented by guests will be unlocked during the day, the exterior doors of most McMinnville campus buildings will remain locked. Linfield community members can enter buildings via their Linfield ID cards. This updated policy better aligns with the building security in place at Linfield’s Portland campus.

Here is a list of how buildings will be affected:

Administrative buildings:  Open to public during normal business hours, generally 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, based on regular operational needs.

  • Please note: Some administrative buildings (including Riley Campus Center, Cozine Hall, Walker Hall, Rutschman Field House, Jereld R. Nicholson Library, among others) may have different hours depending on building-specific operational needs. Signs posted at entrances will note any changes to normal access.

Academic buildings: Locked to public access except for scheduled community events. Students and assigned employees may access most buildings 24/7 via Linfield ID card.

  • Please note: The Vivian A. Bull Music Center, James F. Miller Fine Arts Center and Kenneth W. Ford Hall will limit access for students to only those with educational activities within the building.

Residence halls:  Locked 24 hours per day. Students have access to their individual residence hall 24 hours per day via Linfield ID card.  All students have access to all residence halls, not just their own, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. via their Linfield ID card

As a reminder, all university employees are required to wear their ID cards while working on campus (see the Linfield Identification Cards of the Employee Handbook). Students are required to wear/display their ID cards while in the academic buildings of the campus (See the student policy guide).  BONUS:  Your ID card is required to gain appropriate access to locked buildings!

If you need an ID badge, please contact Linfield Public Safety.
