Flutist and Linfield adjunct professor Abigail Sperling presents “MOSAICS,” a faculty recital that spotlights the special timbre of alto and bass flutes, on Thursday, Feb. 27.
The performance takes places at 7 p.m. in Delkin Recital Hall in the Vivian A. Bull Music Center. Sperling will be joined by music professors Johnandrew Slominski (piano), Greyson Boydstun (marimba) and Richard Krishnan (bassoon).
The program includes Erwin Schulhoff’s “Sonata,” Erik Ewazen’s “Mosaics,” and works by Japanese composer Tōru Takemitsu and New Zealand composer Chris Cree Brown.
A well-known performer of contemporary music, Sperling teaches flute and flute ensemble at Linfield and also leads sectionals for the Linfield Concert Band.
She often features in Oregon State University’s concert series “Music a la Carte” and as part of the Chintimini Chamber Music Festival in Corvallis. She is a regular recitalist across Oregon and a substitute player with the Oregon Symphony and the Corvallis/OSU Symphony.
