A book by nursing Professor Joanna Rowe has helped shape the way nurses approach health care. Family Health Care Nursing: Theory, Practice & Research, edited by Rowe and now in its fourth edition, is used in more than 100 nursing programs throughout the U.S. and Canada.
“We are changing the way we teach nursing,” Rowe says. “Health care decisions must be made in the context of the larger family, rather than just the individual. Few people experience health care in isolation from their families, and everyone experiences the health crisis differently, depending on how their family functions and communicates.”
The Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing is a transfer-only program located on Linfield’s Portland Campus in vibrant Northwest Portland.
