Linfield University welcomes two award-winning authors for Readings at the Nick. Poet Todd Davis and author Joe Wilkins will read from their latest collections at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 in the Jereld R. Nicholson Library Austin Reading Room. The event is free and open to the public. Face coverings are required at all Linfield events.
Davis is the author of six full-length collections of poetry, including his latest work, “Native Species,” which won the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Silver Award, the Blooomsburg University Book Prize and the Midwest Book Award. More than 400 of his poems have appeared in such noted journals and magazines, including American Poetry Review, Ecotone, River Styx and Poetry Daily. Davis teaches creative writing, American literature and environmental studies at Pennsylvania State University’s Altoona College.
Wilkins is a professor of English and director of Linfield’s Creative Writing Program. He will read from his recent collection “Thieve,” which was a finalist for the 2021 Oregon Book Award. Wilkins is the author of a novel, “Fall Back Down When I Die,” which won the 2020 High Plains Book Award and has been translated into French, Spanish and Italian. He has also published the memoir, “The Mountain and the Fathers,” winner of a 2014 GLCA New Writers Award and four collections of poetry, including “When We Were Birds,” winner of the 2017 Oregon Book Award in Poetry. At Linfield, Wilkins teaches courses in creative writing, American literature and environmental studies.
