DORY EXHIBIT RECEPTION: A reception for “Launching through the Surf: The Dory Fleet of Pacific City” will be held Sunday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m. at the Linfield College Nicholson Library. The traveling exhibit showcasing the historical and contemporary role of the dory fleet in the coastal village of Pacific City is on display now through Monday, Nov. 10. GROUP PAINTING EXHIBIT: Linfield Gallery will host an opening reception for “Landscape: A survey of regional contemporary painting” on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. in the James Miller Fine Arts Center at Linfield College. Five artists will display work including Micah Hearn, Ruth Lantz, Lucinda Parker, Ryan Pierce and Jan Reaves. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will run Oct. 13 through Nov. 15 in the Gallery. PHILOSOPHY LECTURES: Mike McNamee, professor of applied ethics at Swansea University, will present two philosophy lectures on Oct. 20 and 21 at Linfield College. Both talks are at 6:30 p.m. in Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall. He will present “Olympism, Doping and the Spirit of Sport” on Oct. 20 and “Paralympism, Disability and the Ethics of Elective Amputation” on Oct. 21. ENTREPRENEURSHIP: Bob Moore of Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods will be featured during a presentation on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in Ice Auditorium at Linfield College. The event is part of the Linfield College Business in Residence program, and highlights the sustainable consumer products industry with Moore and Koopman Ostbo, an integrated marketing communications firm.
