August 29, 2013 by Linfield News Team

By Linfield News Team

iFOCUSEleven new students arrived on campus early for an introduction to interdisciplinary research projects that gave them hands-on experience in lab and field work. See photos.

The iFOCUS program gives incoming Linfield students an opportunity to work with Linfield College faculty and student researchers before classes begin and learn about science across the traditional disciplines of biology, chemistry, math and physics at Linfield.

Students listened to presentations by faculty about current research, worked in the laboratory on current projects and spent two days at the Oregon Coast studying microbial ecology with biology Professor Jeremy Weisz.

Orientation for new students continues through the weekend at Linfield. Classes begin Monday, Aug. 26.
