When Parade scoured towns across the country looking for America’s Best Main Street, McMinnville quickly rose to the top.
McMinnville made it to the final two against Collierville, Tenn., the eventual winner. Read the Parade story. Parade readers nominated more than 2,000 Main Streets for the contest, then editors selected 16 based on the criteria for a successful downtown and readers voted for their favorites in a bracket on parade.com.
Parade editors called McMinnville “a laid-back town in the middle of Oregon’s wine country” which offers a bit of everything, and showcased businesses such as R. Stuart & Co. Wine Bar, La Rambla, McMenamins Hotel Oregon and Red Fox Bakery.
“You know there’s something special about a main drag when locals refer to it as the community’s ‘living room,’” they added.
Other Best Main Street nominees included Corinth, Miss., DeLand, Fla., and Ellicott City, Md., among others.
