Linfield University hosts poet Rebecca Wadlinger for a free reading at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27 in the Austin Reading Room of the Jereld R. Nicholson Library (location). The event is part of the Readings at the Nick Series, which brings a variety of authors to engage with the campus and community throughout the year.
Wadlinger is the author of the poetry collection “Terror, Terrible, Terrific,” published in 2022. The volume is described as “a dark, imaginative collection with a distinct love of language, melancholy humor, and affinity for noticing the remarkable in the unremarkable.” It is the first collection of poems from Wadlinger, whose previous work includes the translation of Norwegian poet Gro Dahle’s “A Hundred Thousand Hours.”
Wadlinger received her MFA in creative writing from the Michener Center for Writers at University of Texas, Austin. She also holds a doctorate in literature and creative writing from the University of Houston. She has previously worked in advertising and is now a creative director at YouTube. Her poems have appeared in Ploughshares, Tin House and the Best New Poets anthology series.
The event is presented by Linfield Libraries and Linfield’s Department of English.
