Record amount raised during fifth-annual giving day

May 7, 2020 by Jill King

By Jill King

LinfieldGives 2020Amid unprecedented times, the Linfield community realized students need support now more than ever. Instead of canceling the annual Linfield Gives fundraising event, the College piggybacked on #GivingTuesdayNow, a global giving movement, on Tuesday, May 5, with an additional day of fundraising on Wednesday, May 6. And, the donors graciously supported Linfield.

During this two-day online event, the Linfield community raised more than $565,000, a record number of gifts from a record number of donors. Nearly 1,000 generous supporters helped Linfield students through gifts made to the Linfield Fund and the COVID-19 Student Aid Fund.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and students I want to thank all of you who donated to Linfield Gives. I also want to thank all of you who wanted to give but find themselves in dire straits. Your positive energy was received and appreciated,” said Linfield president Miles K. Davis.

“There were those who said we should not be trying to do this now. But our advancement team, spurred on by a generous jump start by our Board of Trustees and various other matching challenges, which you stepped up for, has exceeded its goals. Thank you one and all.”

Kathy Meza, interim vice president of institutional advancement echoes Dr. Davis’ sentiments. “In these uncertain times, the Linfield community came together in a monumental way to provide financial support for Linfield students and programs. Way to go, Wildcats!”

Students seeking COVID-19 support can find out more by contacting Linfield’s Office of Financial Aid.
