The Linfield Wildcat will meet Blaze the Trail Cat when the Portland Trail Blazers launch one leg of their “Rip City Relay” from Linfield College Friday, Nov. 1, at 8 a.m. in front of Melrose Hall.
Join Linfield President Thomas Hellie, Chris McGowan, Trail Blazers and Moda Center President and CEO; William Johnson, President of Moda Health; Larry Yoder, McMinnville Council President; and Blaze the Trail Cat, the Trail Blazer mascot to kick off one leg of the relay, which began in Coos Bay and ends at the Moda Center in time for the Trail Blazer’s home opening Saturday, Nov. 2.
Linfield representatives will walk, jog and pass the ball from the front of Melrose to McMinnville High School where they will pass it off for the next leg of the relay.
The Trail Blazers and Moda Health teamed up for the “Rip City Relay,” a five-day journey that will see the ceremonial game ball travel up the Oregon coast and to the Moda Center. Friday’s rally at Linfield kicks off that day’s portion of the relay.
In addition to McMinnville, the Rip City Relay is also making stops in Coos Bay, Reedsport, Waldport, Newport, Otter Rock, Lincoln City, Grand Ronde, Newberg and Beaverton enroute to Portland.
