After a weekend of competitive play by both the Linfield softball and baseball teams, the Catball team advances to the Division III championship.
Softball
Linfield swept Central in the NCAA Super Regional in Pella, Iowa, to earn its first trip to the Finals since 2012. Linfield plays Alfred (N.Y.) on Thursday, May 21, in the first round of the eight-team Division III championship finals, slated for May 21-26 at Moyer Softball Complex in Salem, Va.
Linfield captured NCAA crowns in 2007 and 2011.
Baseball
In baseball, Trinity (Texas) scored seven unanswered runs to rally past Linfield in the regional tournament. The Tigers completed their undefeated run through the Tyler Regional with a 7-3 victory on a Saturday afternoon at the University of Texas at Tyler’s Irwin Field.
The Linfield baseball team ended its season tied for the fifth most wins in program history after making an unprecedented third straight appearance in the regional playoffs.
