To increase coordination of safety at Linfield University, the Office of Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management is combining with Linfield Public Safety to form the Department of Safety and Risk Management. The department is led by Erik Stenehjem, who previously held the title of director of environmental health and safety.
“Since joining Linfield in 2018, Erik Stenehjem has capably tackled many challenges and served Linfield with excellence and care,” said Allison Horn, associate vice president for administration. “His next challenge will be overseeing the newly formed Department of Safety and Risk Management which will include oversight of environmental health and safety, risk management, emergency management and Linfield Public Safety.”
In his new role, Stenehjem will be reporting to Mike Wenz, the vice president for finance and administration/CFO.
“It’s always exciting to take on new responsibilities, and see what can be done,” Stenehjem said. “By consolidating all aspect of safety, emergency management and risk management, we’ll strengthen operations with a unified approach.”
During his time at Linfield, Stenehjem has held multiple leadership roles, including chair of the Staff Council, a key member of the Covid-19 Emergency Response Team, a member of the university’s emergency operations team, and recently, interim director of human resources. Stenehjem also serves as an adjunct instructor of anatomy and physiology at Portland Community College. He holds a master’s degree in biology from Central Washington University.
