Linfield College Lacroute Art SeriesTwo Linfield College exhibits will showcase student art through the end of the semester, June 1, in the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center.

The thesis studio art exhibit, “The Buffet,” will be held in the Linfield Gallery and feature artist talks on Friday, May 23, at 5 p.m., also in the Gallery. Artists include seniors Holly Vader, Alyssa Dykgraaf, Romel Ramos, Robin Cone-Murakami, Katherine Takaoka; and Luke Zimmerman, who also participated in the class.

According to curator senior Katherine Straube, the show’s name, “The Buffet,” illustrates that there is something for everyone visually as well as conceptually.

“The show is meant to show the culmination of how far the students have come during their time in the Linfield Art Department, but also attempts to showcase where they plan on going in the future,” she said.

A second exhibit, “All Ways, All Ready,” featuring the Portfolio class will be held in the Studio Gallery, with an artists’ reception Wednesday, May 14, at 6 p.m. The exhibit is the culmination of the year-long capstone course for majors during which students develop a portfolio of unified work. Students include Kelsey Garrett, Tessa Henry, Maya Luque, Lionel Parra, Taryn Takara, Colton Wright and Yu Yan.

The exhibits are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. The gallery is located in the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center on the Linfield College campus (map), at 900 SE Baker Street in McMinnville. Parking is free. For more information, call 503-883-2804 or visit Linfield Gallery online.
