Tickets to the 50th annual Lū’au and Hō’ike on April 29 are now on sale to the community. This beloved Linfield tradition is the result of months of work and dance practice from the Hui O Lōkahi students and consists of two parts: the Lu’au (traditional meal) will be held during three seatings at 4, 5 and 6 p.m. inside the Rutschman Fieldhouse. Then, at 7:30 p.m., the Hō’ike performances begin in Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
This year’s theme is “Maohi Nui” and celebrates the people of the Pacific. Expect a variety of traditional and modern dance, and even some poi (fire dancing) from Linfield students and the larger community.
Tickets for the dinner and performance are sold separately and range in price. Linfield students, seniors and kids 12 and younger can get $5 off one general admission ticket with code luau5off. If you have any questions, are interested in being a vendor, or would like to make a monetary or other donation, contact HawaiiLeadership@linfield.edu. The event organizers are also seeking stories and photos of past Lū’au and Hō’ike celebrations — if you have some, please reach out.
