Travis Boersma, the co-founder and executive chairman of Dutch Bros, will visit Linfield University on Friday, April 28. The keynote event will be a fireside chat, called “The Dutch Bros Story,” with Jennifer Madden, dean of the School of Business, at 11 a.m. in Nicholson Library (location), which is free and open to the public.
Boersma will discuss his rise from opening a Grants Pass push-cart coffee stand in 1992 to what is now a publicly traded company with 617 locations in 14 states. Parking is available in the lots off Lever Street; visitors may park in any non-reserved spot.
“Travis is not only an incredibly dynamic businessman but a true Oregon original,” Linfield President Miles K. Davis said. “With his brother, he started with an idea that became a cult favorite, then one of America’s best-loved and fastest growing brands. His unique model of franchising, where owners must start as baristas and work at an existing location for three years before they can open a location, ensures the famed Dutch Bros culture thrives, and I know students and the Linfield community alike will find him fascinating.”
In addition to the public talk, Boersma will meet with various groups of students throughout the day to discuss a range of topics, including the experience of the Dutch Bros’ initial public offering.
