WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 7
TECHNOLOGY TALK: Tony Salvador, senior principal engineer at Intel Corporation, will present “What to Think About” to kick off the 2016-17 PLACE program on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. The talk is sponsored by PLACE and Academic Affairs and is free and open to the public. SATURDAY, SEPT. 10

ARTIST RECEPTION: A reception featuring two of the Portland2016 Biennial artists, Donald Morgan (Eugene) and Rebecca Peel (Portland), will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, from 1-5 p.m. with wine and light refreshments in the Linfield Gallery. The “Portland2016 Biennial of Contemporary Art,” a groundbreaking collaborative exhibition, is on display through Sept. 18 at the Linfield Gallery in the James F. Miller Fine Arts Center. All exhibits are free and open to the public. WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 14

FACULTY LECTURE: Daniel Pollack-Pelzner, Ronni Lacroute Chair in Shakespeare studies and associate professor of English at Linfield College, will present “Shakespeare’s Bad Bromance” on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. in 201 Riley Hall at Linfield. The event is sponsored by Academic Affairs at Linfield and is free and open to the public. For more information, call 503-883-2409.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 17
FIESTA LATINA: Linfield College will host Fiesta Latina, a celebration of Hispanic culture, on Saturday, Sept. 17, at noon on the Intramural Field and in Fred Meyer Lounge in Riley Hall at Linfield. The event is free and open to the community and is sponsored by Linfield College Latinos Adelante, MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán), the Spanish Club and the Multicultural Programs Office. MONDAY, SEPT. 19

CONSTITUTION DAY: In celebration of Constitution Day, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill professor Jonathan Weiler will present “Worlds Apart: authoritarianism and American political divisions on the eve of the 2016 election” on Monday, Sept. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Austin Reading Room in 201 Riley Hall at Linfield College. THURSDAY-SATURDAY, SEPT. 22-24

THEATRE ICEBREAKERS: Linfield College students will open the 2016-17 theatre season with the annual student icebreaker featuring two plays, “The Internet Is Distract – Oh Look a Kitten!” and “Simulation.” The plays will be presented Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 22-24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Marshall Theatre in Ford Hall. TUESDAY, SEPT. 27

POETRY READING: Joe Wilkins, associate professor of English at Linfield College, will read from his newest book of poetry, “When We Were Birds,” on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Nicholson Library at Linfield. The reading is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Linfield Nicholson Library and the Linfield English Department.
