WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1
THEATRE: In celebration of Black History Month and Women’s History Month, Core Ensemble will present “Ain’t I a Woman!” on Wednesday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield College. The performance is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Lacroute Arts Series, the Department of Theatre and Communication Arts, and the Department of Music. THURSDAY, MARCH 9

MARY SULLY TALK: Philip Deloria, a Carroll Smith-Rosenberg Collegiate Professor in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan, will present “Towards an American Indian Abstract: The Art and Politics of Mary Sully” on Thursday, March 9, at 7 p.m. in the Austin Reading Room in the Nicholson Library at Linfield College. CHAMBER RECITAL: Linfield College Department of Music will present a student and faculty chamber recital on Thursday, March 9, at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15

MARINE SPONGES: Jeremy Weisz, associate professor of biology at Linfield College, will present “Symbiosis in the Sea: Studying Relationships between Marine Sponges and Marine Microbes” on Wednesday, March 15, at 7 p.m. in 201 Riley Hall at Linfield. The lecture is free and open to the public. The Linfield College faculty lecture series offers one presentation each month. For more information, call 503-883-2409.

THEATRE: Linfield College theatre students will present Annie Baker’s 2009 Obie award-winning play “Circle Mirror Transformation” March 15-18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Marshall Theatre in Ford Hall at Linfield College. Stephanie Mulligan, a 2013 Linfield graduate, will direct. Tickets are $9; $7 for seniors (62+) and Linfield faculty and staff; and $5 for students; with a $2 discount on all tickets on opening night. Seating is reserved. Tickets are available online starting Feb. 21 at www.linfield.edu/arts and will be available at the Marshall Theatre Box Office beginning March 7. Located in Ford Hall, the box office is open Monday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m., and until 7:30 p.m. on performance days. For more information, call 503-883-2292.

TRIO CON BRIO: Trio Con Brio will perform Wednesday, March 15, at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield College. It is sponsored by the Linfield Lively Arts and Friends of Chamber Music. Tickets are $10 and available at the door. Linfield students with current ID and K-12 students are free. FRIDAY, MARCH 17

KEYBOARD KAPERS: The Linfield College Department of Music will present Keyboard Kapers, featuring students in the piano studio of Albert Kim, assistant professor of music, on Friday, March 17, at 7 p.m. in the Delkin Recital Hall in the Vivian A. Bull Music Center at Linfield College. This concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 503-883-2275 or visit linfield.edu/arts.

SATURDAY, MARCH 18

MUSIC WORKSHOP: A workshop aimed at providing new and innovative approaches to teaching music is open to local elementary educators and Linfield College students on Saturday, March 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Woolley Hall in the Vivian Bull Music Center at Linfield. The workshop is free to attend. Participants are asked to bring guitars, if possible. Registration deadline is Monday, March 13. TUESDAY, MARCH 21

AUTHOR READING: Author Mike Copperman, senior instructor of English at the University of Oregon, will present a reading on Tuesday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m., in the Austin Reading Room of the Jereld R. Nicholson Library at Linfield College. He will read from and talk about his memoir, “Teacher: Two Years in the Mississippi Delta,” which captures what it’s like to teach in America’s poorest and most troubled public schools. This reading is a part of the “Readings at the Nick” series. The lecture is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Linfield Nicholson Library and the Linfield English department.
