How to “go WILD” for Linfield students on seventh annual giving day

April 25, 2022 by Eric Howald

By Eric Howald

One Wild Day, a fundraising campaign, returns May 4.

Since 2016, Linfield’s alumni, donors, employees and friends have gone WILD in their generous support of Linfield University students during its annual giving day. Contributions each year have exceeded pre-set goals, and 2022 aims to be no different.

Linfield’s One Wild Day starts May 4 at 7 a.m. Organizers hope to beat last year’s total amount raised – $526,456 – during the fundraising campaign. Donations made on giving day help unlock matching funds from the Linfield University Board of Trustees – up to $250,000.

“Our giving day campaign has become a wonderful tradition for the Linfield community,” said Joseph Hunter, Linfield vice president for university advancement. “It’s the one time of year that the entire Wildcat family can unite to help students. We are so humbled and grateful for all the support.”

All money raised during One Wild Day directly supports students in the form of scholarships, academic programs and other initiatives. While donors can give to any designation during giving day, eight specific funds will be raising money for Linfield students, including:

  • the Linfield Fund, which provides student scholarships as well as classroom technology and supplies.
  • the Wildcat Food Pantry, which supports supplies students with food and personal care items.
  • the Student Health and Wellness Fund, which covers the costs of physical and emotional support programs.
  • the Emergency Financial Aid Fund, which assists students facing unexpected financial hurdles during their time at Linfield;
  • individual funds supporting students in the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business or the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing.
  • the TopCat Club, which supports Wildcat student-athletes.

Members of the Linfield community can participate in One Wild Day in the following ways:

  1. Make a gift! Direct your support to a specific fund through the One Wild Day website or via phone at 503-883-2428.
  2. Become an advocate. Share the excitement of One Wild Day on your social media channels.
  3. Create a match or a challenge. Make giving day a little MORE wild by encouraging others to give through setting up a matching gift or a challenge.
