Yamhill County extends bus routes to Tigard

McMINNVILLE, Ore. — Yamhill County Transit Area has announced extended bus routes from downtown McMinnville to Tigard. A morning and evening commuter bus also stops at Linfield College in McMinnville. The service is open to everyone interested in commuting.

The route features 18 stops, including McMinnville, Lafayette, Dayton, Dundee, Newberg, Sherwood and Tigard. One-way daily passes are $1, and 10-day passes are $15.

The bus runs Monday through Saturday, although express service from the Tigard Transit Center to Linfield College is only offered Monday through Friday. The express service is offered during morning rush hour, with a return trip in the evening.

“The express bus between Tigard and Linfield College is only 55 minutes, just 10 minutes more than a trip in the car,” said Linfield Professor Thomas Love.

In addition to the direct route (Tigard/Sherwood/Newberg/Linfield College/downtown McMinnville), which connects with the WES and then the MAX line, it’s also possible to catch the MAX Red Line directly in Hillsboro, from downtown McMinnville.

“The connection makes a quick and convenient way to get to the airport, without the hassle of short- or long-term parking,” Love said.

“This is a unique opportunity to support sustainable transportation alternatives,” said Tonya Saunders, transit manager in Yamhill County.

The extended service is funded by state grant money, in partnership with Yamhill County Transit Area, Linfield College and Oregon Mutual Insurance Company.
