Linfield offers money management help to students, alumni

October 18, 2013 by Linfield News Team

By Linfield News Team

Pioneer Hall at Linfield CollegeLinfield College is offering students and alumni help in becoming more financially savvy in managing their money and student loans.

Linfield has teamed with SALT™, a new membership program to help students and alumni manage finances and student loans. SALT™ was created by American Student Assistance, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower students and alumni to successfully manage and repay their college loan debt by offering education and neutral advice.

“Linfield students and alumni can join SALT™ to help manage student loans and finances successfully; speak with an expert student loan counselor and receive free student loan advice; find scholarships, internships or jobs, snag money-saving deals, and more,” said Dan Preston, vice president for enrollment management. “The decision to offer SALT™ was based in wanting to offer a variety of services to assist our student loan borrowers during and after college.”

The free resource offers simple, smart and personalized ways to take control of student debt and manage finances, Preston added. Combining online and offline interactions, SALT™ delivers decision support, content and one-on-one loan repayment guidance in a simple and useful way.

“Any student or alumnus who needs to become more financially savvy, whether they’ve borrowed student loans or not can benefit from SALT™,” Preston said.

Linfield students and alumni can join free of charge at saltmoney.org/LINFIELD. For more information about SALT™ accounts, contact member support at 855-469-2724. For questions about student loans, contact a SALT™ loan counselor at 877-523-9473 or follow SALT at Facebook.com/saltmoney or on Twitter at @SALT_MONEY.

For more information about the program, contact Preston at dpreston@linfield.edu or 503-883-2542.
