Linfield University continues to make a quality, private education affordable by capping its tuition at $13,000, the average cost of Oregon’s four-year public schools, for the top five percent of admitted students.

“Keeping tuition at the average in-state tuition cost helps high-ability students receive an excellent education at a lower cost,” said Lisa Knodle-Braigel, Linfield’s director of admission. “We are excited to extend this commitment to a new class of Linfield students.”

This is the second year that Linfield has offered a tuition commitment to high-achieving, first-year students. Sixty-eight students were offered the tuition commitment for fall 2020.

Students from all 50 states and the District of Columbia are eligible to apply by Feb. 1, 2021. The top five percent of Linfield admitted students for fall 2021 will be determined by March 26, 2021, and is based on weighted GPA. Ninety-six percent of Linfield students receive financial assistance of some kind, whether it’s scholarships, grants, loans or campus jobs, or any combination of those.

“It’s a myth that private colleges like Linfield are not affordable,” Knodle-Braigel said. “Programs like the tuition commitment, as well as other types of financial assistance, keep the cost close to our public peers, especially when graduate rates are considered.”
