Linfield College junior Kevin Romero was recently featured in the September/October issue of inChemistry magazine.
In the article, Romero discusses how important it is to talk about scientific research using words that are understandable to everyone. In chemistry, as in many occupations, jargon and specialized terminologies are used, which people outside of the field are unable to comprehend. Romero says that by using words that everyone can understand, he is better able to discuss his research with others.
Romero is a chemistry and mathematics major. He was one of 16 winners of the Speak Simply contest during the Undergraduate Poster Session at the 245th American Chemical Society national meeting and exposition. Some 55 students competed in the competition that took place in New Orleans, La., earlier this year.
