The university surpassed its initial fundraising target of $75 million benefiting Linfield’s people, places and programs.

With support from alumni, employees and friends of the university, the campaign exceeded expectations and concluded Spark Wonder a year earlier than originally planned. The success was celebrated at a dinner in Nicholson Library Friday night, where students and university leadership gathered with alumni and donors.

The campaign’s success will have a profound and lasting impact on these hallmark areas of the university:

People and Programmatic Support — Increased funding for student scholarships, internships and experiential learning opportunities for students to pursue their passions and develop critical skills. Efforts also increased endowed professorships, new faculty awards and programmatic support.

Place Enhancements — Investments in state-of-the-art facilities, technology infrastructure and sustainability initiatives to modernize the campus environment, enrich the overall student experience and foster innovation and collaboration. One of the most visible outcomes of the Spark Wonder campaign is the new Linfield University Science Complex, an 84,400 square foot set of new and rebuilt facilities. The complex included the construction of an entirely new 24,000-square-foot building known as the W.M. Keck Science Center.

“The Spark Wonder campaign exemplifies our defining strengths and unleashes the brilliant potential of students,” said Joseph Hunter, vice president for university advancement at Linfield University. “This campaign raised vital resources to create endowed funds in support of our community, provided capital to ensure that Linfield’s facilities truly advance its mission, and benefited operating funds to sustain excellence and fuel innovation.”
