Submissions open April 3 for the 31st annual Linfield University Student Symposium

A student presents to a large room, wearing a blazer with a pen tucked behind her ear.Linfield University will accept submissions for its 31st annual Student Symposium beginning April 3. The symposium, held on Friday, May 19, showcases the innovative and academic achievements of Linfield students on the McMinnville and Portland campuses.

Students present a diverse range of work, including performances, short films, artwork, research in the natural sciences, social and behavioral sciences, humanities and other fields.

How to submit:

The Student Symposium homepage contains both the submission link as well as the work from previous symposiums. Click “Submit Event” on the purple sidebar on the left.

  • If a student has not submitted to the Symposium previously, an account will need to be created first. Please include all required information according to the instructions on the form.
  • Students must submit the entry form themselves; faculty members may not do this on behalf of the student.
  • Students are welcome to submit more than one presentation, provided they have a faculty sponsor for each. Please email symposium@linfield.edu to coordinate multiple presentations.
  • Multiple students working on a joint presentation should each submit a form (individual permission is required for posting the work on DigitalCommons)
  • If more than one student is presenting a work, click the green + button under the “Author Information” section and enter the required information for each author. This does not replace submitting a form.
  • Following submission, students will receive a confirmation email.

Please note:

  • English Department Honors presentations will be scheduled in coordination with the English department.
  • Music performances will be scheduled in coordination with the Music department.
  • Each submission form must be completed in its entirety.
  • If a student submits two separate presentations, timing will be coordinated with the student and both faculty sponsors.
  • Contact symposium@linfield.edu to discuss accommodations for students not located on the McMinnville campus.
  • Deadline for submissions is Friday, April 28th by 11:59 pm
